Fatal northern boating accident

One man is missing and another is dead after a boating accident on a lake in Northern Saskatchewan.

Just before 9 p.m. Friday, Creighton RCMP responded to a call of a single boat collision on Amisk Lake near the community of Denare Beach. The lake is about 400 km northeast of the Prince Albert.

The boat had struck a reef, causing two of five male passengers to fall overboard.

A 65-year-old man was found dead in the water. A search for a second man is continuing.

The three remaining males were uninjured.

RCMP are investigating the cause of the collision. According to preliminary reports, life jackets were not worn at the time of the collision.
