Summit Run – A Great Time for the Whole Family

Jun 16, 2011 | 12:50 PM

We are excitedly counting down the days until the run!!!

The start/finish line is located just west of the Diefenbaker Bridge. The route travels east along the scenic North Saskatchewan River on the newly paved Rotary Trail. Course marshals will indicate the 5 km and 10 km turnaround points. The half marathon route follows the rotary trail east, with a turn around point behind Vickers school

As of today we have over 400 runners, 117 volunteers, 18 aboriginal drummers, 10 highland pipers/drummers, 12 committee members, 1 band and a partridge in a pear tree …all coming together for the race on sunday.

What else is new ?

New Ground Cafe ( the most fabulous cafe ) is hosting a concession stand so that all of your friends and family who are gathered at the start/finish line to cheer you on can enjoy some fantastic food while waiting for you to finish.

Here is what Jenni has planned:

*Red River Cinnamon Buns

*Spinach and Feta Bannock

*Prairie Fruit Compote with Yogurt and New Ground Granola

*Iced Coffee with Cinnamon and Local Honey

*Date Oatmeal Cookies

All items available for $ 2 to 3 dollars

More news?

We are excited to announce that Dr. Java will be providing runners with complimentary ice coffees at the finish line.

Decisions, decisions…you've finished a great race…filled your tummy with your our post run refreshments…now should you get your ice coffee first or go for a 5 minute complimentary leg massage by The Healing Touch….hmmmm

Maybe you'll go over to see the “little runners” getting their faces painted and getting their animal balloons,

Or you could sit in the bleachers or grass, stretch out your legs,

listen to the music and cheer the rest of the runners on as they cross the finish.

Can't wait to see you there!!!
