More research needed for MS broad trials: SHRF

People in Saskatchewan with multiple sclerosis may be saddened by a recent setback when it comes to clinical trials for a controversial MS treatment funded by the provincial government.

The Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF) says it needs more scientific research in order to go ahead with broad trials involving liberation therapy.

SHRF CEO June Bold says the foundation only got one proposal and it didn't meet the criteria set out by an expert panel.

“So it became clear to us that some of the early stage work that needs to be done is very important to allow the researchers to move along that path and design that really great quality large trial,” said Bold.
