SaskPower is reporting more than 1,000 customers south and southwest of Prince Albert went without power this morning.

The power outage affected a number of communities including Birch Hills and Kinistino, stretching to the community of Tway near Wakaw.

At least two churches report they had unplugged morning services due to the outage.

An outage report by SaskPower shows a small animal, likely a bird, hit a transformer at a nearby substation causing the outage. Crews have since restored power to the effected communities.
Power outages have been common in the province over the past few days.

SaskPower confirmed that about 2,000 customers in Regina were without power Saturday.

A lightning strike was the cause of a short power outage Friday that affected Birch Hills. That outage also affected areas including Prince Albert, MacDowell, Muskoday and St Louis.
