Young woman dies in car crash on Ring Road in Regina

A 21-year-old girl has died in a three-vehicle collision on Ring Road between Assiniboine Avenue and Wascana Parkway in Regina Tuesday evening.

According to a news release, just after 6 p.m. a car travelling north passed a truck in the left lane. As the car passed, the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the centre ditch, and struck two vehicles that were travelling south.

One of the southbound vehicles, a red compact, was struck head-on. The 21-year-old driver of the red compact died.

The other southbound car received only minor damage and the occupants escaped without injury.

There were four young girls in the northbound car including a 16 year-old driver, two 15 year-old passengers and another 16-year-old passenger.

Their injuries are being assessed, but according to police, are believed to be non-life threatening.

The 21-year-old victim’s name is not being released.

As of 9 p.m. investigators remain on scene while both the north and southbound lanes are closed to traffic.

No word on if there will be any charges.
