Tomorrows SPCA Celebrity Golf Tournament Will be An Event to Remember

Tomorrow is the long awaited SPCA Golf Tournament which will start with a bang at noon with a Shotgun Start.

The line-up of celebrities is impressive:

Beverley Mahood – Singer-Songwriter
– Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland
– Country music singer-songwriter in Canada
– Formerly part of the all female trio Lace, produced by the renowned Los
Angeles producer, David Foster
– Canadian television host from 2004 to 2005 co-hosted the Citytv Vancouver
morning show, Breakfast Television
– Named to co-host CMT Canada’s flagship show, CMT Central
– Spokesperson for the Pink Mitten Campaign to fund breast cancer research
and awareness
– Recently travelled to Afghanistan to meet with troops and recorded
“Celebrate me Home” in honour of our soldiers
– Host of “Pick a Puppy”, the show that “matches families with their ideal furry
companions”
– Honoured as one of the Canadian Women of Distinction at the G20 Spousal
Brunch

Wayne “Swoop” Carleton, Stanley Cup Champion

– Born in Sudbury, Ontario
– Wayne started his National Hockey League career with the Toronto Maple
Leafs. He also played with the Boston Bruins and California Golden Seals.
– Member of one Stanley Cup champions, 1969–1970 Bruins
– Wayne was on the ice as the left winger on Derek Sanderson's line when
Bobby Orr scored his famous Cup-clinching goal in Game 4 of the 1970 Cup
finals.
– He was traded the following year to California Seals
– After one year with California, he moved over to the World Hockey
Association and played for the Ottawa Nationals, Toronto Toros, Edmonton
Oilers, Birmingham Bulls, and New England Whalers.

Brian Propp, NHL Player
– Born in Lanigan, SK and started his notable career with the Melville
Millionaires
– He was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round in 1979 and
launched an outstanding career in the National Hockey League that spanned
three decades
– Appeared in five Stanley Cup Finals
– Played his entire career with the Philadelphia Flyers – 15 seasons in the NHL
from 1979 to 1994
– In 1987 Brian won the Canada Cup playing on the line with Wayne Gretzky
and Mario Lemieux
– In 1999 Brian was inducted into the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame and was
selected the “All Time Greatest Left Winger” in Canadian Junior Hockey

– In 2002, Brian was inducted to the Saskatchewan Rural Hall of Fame and into

Steven Cousins – Olympian Figure Skater
