Election day for Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation
Apr 14, 2015 | 6:25 AM
The eight communities that make up Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation will go to the polls on Tuesday to vote for the chief and council.
Polling stations will be open at 8 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. In Prince Albert, voting will take place at Parkland Community Hall.
There are three people vying for the position of chief: incumbent Peter Beatty, former Chief Darrell McCallum, and Karen Bird from Southend.
There is one small change in this election — all the votes will be counted by hand. The band used an electronic counting system in the last election, but the elders stressed they preferred a more traditional method.
