Gratefulness and Give a Little Life Campaign
A Thanksgiving holiday causes our society to take pause and take stock.
Taking stock is important as it forces us to be happy about what we have. Sometimes we need that nudge don’t we? It can be easier to be more devoted to what’s going wrong than what’s going right. As the new executive director of the Victoria Hospital Foundation, I wanted in on this ‘grateful’ action.
As my first Give a Little Life Campaign is upon me, the memory is still fresh in my mind of how the Victoria Hospital staff cared for my son and I in October 2011. When a baby comes early, no one really knows how things will unfold. I will never forget the calm confidence that our capable nurses and doctors urged my husband and I to have. They were right. Our newborn son was released 10 days later, healthy and strong.
So if you ask me what I’m grateful for I can tell you it is my family, this hospital, the staff, the community and the amazing Victoria Hospital Foundation. I have lived and worked in a major metropolis for 15 years and I am grateful to be home, where people still know how to take care of people and isn’t that what it’s all about?
