Visitor restrictions lifted at Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region has lifted visitor restrictions for Jubilee Lodge long-term care facility in Kinistino following an outbreak of a respiratory illness. Medical Health Officer Dr. Brenda Cholin, PAPHR’s acting Medical Health Officer, declared the outbreak over today.

There were seven residents with respiratory illness symptoms Jubilee Lodge, which is a 30-bed facility in Kinistino.

There are three ongoing outbreaks at two long-term facilities in Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.

There are visitor restrictions at:
• Herb Basset Home – Golden Hill unit, gastrointestinal, organism not yet confirmed in laboratory testing, declared December 29, 2014. Herb Bassett Home is a 144-bed facility, with three 48-bed units.
• Herb Bassett Home – Entire facility, respiratory, with one unit (Golden Hill) confirmed with influenza, the other two units (Paradise Path and Lakeland Trail) are a mix of coronavirus and influenza, declared December 29, 2014.
• Whispering Pine Place – Respiratory (not yet identified), declared January 4, 2015. Whispering Pine Place is a 30-bed facility in Canwood.

At facilities with outbreak status, individuals who are showing symptoms are being isolated. Signage is in place to inform staff members and visitors that an outbreak is in effect. Visitors are asked to reschedule their visits, until the outbreak is declared over. However, if family members have an urgent or compassionate reason to visit, they should phone the facility in advance for further instructions.

The Health Region reminds the public that proper hand hygiene and cough etiquette reduce the risk of getting or spreading respiratory illnesses, including colds and influenza. Visitors to any health care facility are asked to perform hand hygiene upon entering and leaving the facility. Anyone who is ill is also asked to not visit any long-term care facility, whether it is on outbreak status or not.
