The man arrested after a weekend car chase in Saskatoon made his first appearance in court on Monday morning.

Bradley Derek Vestby, 35, appeared on charges stemming from Saturday. That’s when he’s alleged to have fled from police, leading them on a lengthy chase before his vehicle was rammed by police cruisers at the intersection of 22nd Street and 2nd Avenue in downtown Saskatoon. During the chase, Vestby is alleged to have pointed a gun, later determined to be an air pistol, at officers. He’s also accused of firing the weapon at police during the chase. Officers responded by firing an estimated 10 to 12 shots at Vestby during the incident.

During his appearance in court, Vestby appeared wearing a white jump suit. He sat in the prisoner’s box with his arms crossed and refused to answer preliminary questions from the judge.  At that point, the judge had him removed from the courtroom.

Vestby did return, declaring his intention to plead guilty to the nearly 30 charges he’s facing, including assault and various firearms, drug and traffic offences.
