Icehawks pumped by Quakers 11-0

Feb 8, 2015 | 8:53 PM

The Prince Albert Icehawks played their last Prairie Junior Hockey League game Sunday, one they’d like to forget.

The Icehawks were shelled by the top-ranked Saskatoon Quakers 11-0 at the Kinsmen. It was the fourth consecutive defeat for the Icehawks, who are now 6-27-3 on the season.

The Quakers scored three goals within the first three minutes of the game. Joe Bristow scored two of them. Mark Foster had the other, while Quakers captain Scott Kary scored late in the period to make it 4-0 after the opening 20 minutes.

Bristow completed the hat trick on early second to make it 5-0. Icehawks goaltender Tyler Gordon took a roughing penalty shortly after the fifth goal, and was replaced by Cole Dinney.

Quakers sniper Rhett Kehoe, who is dominating the PJHL scoring race, made it 6-0 heading into the third period. Kehoe, who finished the game with a goal and two assists, now has 104 points (48 goals) in 35 games—24 more points than any other PJHL player.

The Quakers added three more in the third as MacArthur Bell, Kehoe (second) and Cody Pettapiece all lit the lamp to make it 9-0. Bristow added his fourth of the game in the final minute to make it a double-digit win for the Quakers. Bell made it 11-0 with just five seconds left in the game.

Locals on the opposition

Prince Albert’s Bryson Aistine suited on the Quakers blueline, alongside former Prince Albert Minto Zac Harms.
