Prince Albert kickboxer ready to battle in Thailand

Feb 20, 2026 | 3:00 PM

Despite only having two and a half years experience training as a kickboxer, Prince Albert’s Vu Le is turning a lot of heads and getting noticed by all the right people.

The 28-year-old has been asked to join Team Canada at the 2026 Amazing MuayThai World Festival in Thailand in June.

“It’s pretty exciting, it means a lot to me and it will definitely be a good experience,” he said.

This year, tryouts were held at Warrior Spirit Martial Arts Academy in North Battleford. It was the first time Saskatchewan tryouts were held in the province.

Le who trains out of North Wake Martial Arts has one competition under his belt and it was at a tournament last year in Alberta. He finished second but stated he was still very new to the sport.

When asked to explain his passion for kickboxing, Le said growing up, he was a fan of contact sports, and watched the UFC.

“One day I just said whatever let’s do it and ever since then I’ve just really liked it.”

Originally from Vietnam and having visited there many times,  Le does not anticipate too much of a culture shock when he travels overseas to Thailand.

 “It should be really fun.”
