P.A.’s Huddlestone’s dedication to his sport pays off with CSG selection
Ever since he was a youngster, Prince Albert’s Luke Huddlestone has taken basketball seriously. He shoots baskets before school, hits the weight room after, and that’s when he’s not playing games or going to camps.
That dedication led Huddlestone to his biggest achievement yet, earning a spot on Team Saskatchewan’s basketball team for the upcoming 2022 Canada Summer Games Aug. 6-21 in Niagara, Ont.
“It was definitely a big accomplishment. I’ve been working hard ever since I was in Grade 5 to get to this point. With COVID and everything, I didn’t get the opportunity to do this [last year] but luckily now, I’m able to do this,” Huddlestone said. “It’s definitely going to be a good experience, it’s going to be fun representing Saskatchewan and where I come from.”
Huddlestone led the Carlton Crusaders senior boys to a Hoopla 5A Provincial berth, ending the boys’ team’s two-decade absence from the big dance. Huddlestone certainly wasn’t the only reason why the team was there, but made an impact with or without the ball and was glued to the court throughout all the team’s big games.
