The numbers are in, and thousands of voters took advantage of the advance polls last weekend in Prince Albert.

According to preliminary numbers from Elections Canada, 11,579 people cast ballots at the advance poll station from Sept. 10-13.

That number is up nearly 2,000 from the 2019 Federal Election where 9,851 voted in advance polls.

Across the province, numbers were also up at advance polls with over 182,000 votes, a roughly 20 per cent increase from 2019.

Elections Canada estimates nearly 5.8 million advance votes were cast across the country over the four-day span.

Of the 14 ridings in Saskatchewan, only Saskatoon-West saw a drop in early voting participation, with 10,959 ballots cast.

Overall, just over a million more votes were cast at the advance polls in this general election compared to the previous election.

Elections Canada noted the figures are estimates as some polls may not have reported yet.
