UPDATE: Pedestrian killed in hit and run

Police confirm one man is dead after a fatal collision on Highway 2 South last night. 

Pedestrian George Alfred Ray, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene around 8 p.m. Collision reconstruction and Forensic Identification officers remained on the scene to examine for evidence. 

Officers seized a suspicious vehicle at a home nearby shortly after the crash. A suspect driver was also taken into custody, but was released without charge. 

The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the Chief Coroner’s Office.

Parkland Ambulance has confirmed a man was found lying at the side of Highway 2 Monday night, South of Prince Albert.

There are no details what the man’s condition was when paramedics arrived.

The matter remains under police investigation. A containment site was set up around the scene, and traffic was blocked off.  Police were there until well after midnight.

Prince Albert Police have confirmed a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Monday night, on the outskirts of the city.

The accident happened on Highway 2, in the area of the Wholesale Club and Peavey Mart. A spokesperson for the police service told paNOW they received the initial call around 8 p.m. The area was blocked off for several hours. There are no further details regarding the person hit. More details from police are expected later today.
