Missing person’s case ‘suspicious’: RCMP

More than three days after a Saskatchewan man’s sudden disappearance, the man’s family continues to have more questions than answers.

According to RCMP, Travis MacDonald, 24, was last seen driving from Saskatoon to Prince Albert early Monday morning. MacDonald’s older brother Harley told paNOW he received a text message from Travis around 4 a.m.

“He asked where I was and he said I’m coming back. I haven’t heard from him since and I’m still looking for him,” he said.

Harley said he had no idea why Travis driving on the highway at that time of day, but added nothing appeared to be wrong and his brother, who had just returned from a vacation in B.C., had no medical issues. Travis’s truck was found later in the day abandoned south of Prince Albert off Highway 2 toward St. Louis. Harley said the case seems very suspicious.

“It’s not like my brother not to call his father or call any of us and to have people worry, it’s not like him,” he said.

Sgt. Lyle Korczak with the Prince Albert RCMP detachment said they are treating the case as suspicious.

“Anytime there is a missing person, you always treat it as suspicious until proven otherwise,” he said.

Korczak added they have had several tips come in, and police are looking into each one. The truck, which MacDonald recently bought from a friend, is being looked over for signs of maintenance problems. Korczak said the fact MacDonald has been missing over 48 hours is a concern.

“Time’s a wasting, especially when there is a missing person and especially if it is outside the person’s normal behaviour,” he said.

Anyone with information regarding MacDonald’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
