Gas prices to remain stable over long weekend

Jun 29, 2018 | 5:00 PM

The weather forecast for the Canada Day long weekend may dampen your spirits, but at least gas prices aren’t expected to go up anytime soon.

That’s according to Dan McTeague, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy, who says drivers in Saskatchewan should see prices remain the same over the next few days. If they do go up, McTeague said the increase will be short-lived.

“No gas retailer is really looking to raise prices because they don’t want to lose market share,” McTeague said.

“Unless something dramatic should happen, no one’s moving … right now, it’s very competitive at the retail level and most gas stations are simply holding the line.”

Gas prices remain at 122.9 per litre at stations across Prince Albert.

According to gasbuddy.com, prices in North Battleford were at 124.9 and averaging 123.9 in Melfort. Shellbrook was reporting prices of 125.9, with Meadow Lake at 129.9, La Ronge at 124.9 and Nipawin at 125.9.

McTeague said prices should remain competitive across Saskatchewan.

“It look like stable pricing as we head into the long weekend,” he added.

However, the weather forecast over the long weekend is calling for rain on Canada Day and the holiday Monday.
