VIDEO: Grass fire near landfill ‘human caused’

A fire north of Prince Albert’s landfill sent plumes of black smoke into the air, as it burned towards a forested area on Wednesday.

Firefighters from Buckland Fire and Rescue, Prince Albert Fire Department, and the ministry of environment responded to the fire, which is still not fully contained.

“It’s listed as human caused, they haven’t determined the precise causes yet though,” said Val Nicholson with the ministry of environment.

The fire started out as a grass fire and Nicholson said it grew to roughly one quarter of a square kilometre in size.
