Partial lineup for Borealis Music Festival announced

The countdown is on and the first lineup of artists is set to perform in this year’s annual Borealis Music Festival.

The music festival, set to take place this summer from July 31 to Aug. 2, will feature a variety of local artists, as well as worldwide acts.

As promised, the lineup so far features a wide variety of genres.

It includes:

Until Red: A Manitoban Roots-Rock band that is known for weaving audience interaction, comedy and some sweet solos into their shows.

The Dead South: A Regina-based four-piece acoustic ensemble known for their unique, modern, authentic and boot stomping acoustic music.

Mario Lepage: A Fransaskois singer – songwriter with multi instrumental talents

I Draw Slow:  A five-piece Dublin Roots Band whom with their unique sound brings together Irish tradition with modern American.

Andino Suns:  A Regina-based Latin/folk band ensemble that blends traditional sounds of the Andes Mountains and traditional sound of the Canadian Prairies.

Event board member Joel Rohs said since the launch of their website they have already had a wide variety of artists apply to take part in the festivities.

“We have had a lot of Saskatchewan-based artists apply to play at the festival and hopefully we are looking for a few more Prince Albert artists to apply as well,” he said.  “We really want to showcase our Prince Albert talent in the festival.”

Local groups are encouraged to apply and can do so by clicking here.

Rohs said anyone wishing to take part in the festival as volunteer can also do so online.

Over the coming weeks further headliners and local groups will continue to be released.

Those wishing to snag advance tickets for festival can do so now. Until May 18 advance tickets can be purchased online at $40 for a single-day pass or $100 for the full three days. Regular pricing starts May 18.

A promotion concert for the Borealis Music Festival is also coming up at the Mann Art Gallery on Saturday.  The evening is set to feature one of the festivals recently announced groups The Dead South. The event begins at 7 p.m. tickets are $25 at the door or $20 in advance.
