No charges for RCMP officer who fatally shot man in Holdfast

An RCMP officer that shot a man during an investigation will not be charged.

In September of 2013 police were called to a home in the village of Holdfast, north of Moose Jaw.

After the officer arrived a fight broke out between him and the owner of the home. The officer shot the 42-year-old man, who later died at the scene.

The Regina Police Service and the Ministry of Justice investigated the fatal shooting.

Regina police says the officer tried to arrest the man for criminal harassment. They found the RCMP member’s actions were based on reasonable grounds and he was acting in the lawful execution of his duty.
