Police investigate assault and robbery in P.A.

Feb 9, 2015 | 6:08 AM

Prince Albert Police Service is on the lookout for a group of men involved in an assault and robbery.

On Sunday morning police were called to a business in the 2800 block of Sixth Avenue East for complaints of a robbery.

When police arrived they found the employee at the business had been assaulted and then robbed.

Police said four men had run off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Rachel McAdam, assistant manager Mac’s convience store, said it was their store that was targetted.

She said the men were carrying “either a crow bar or a tire iron,” held the employee down and hit him several times with the weapon.

“They came in, and basically assaulted him (the employee), took the cash, and came out in less than nine minutes,” McAdam said Monday morning.  “He’s off his shift for now until further notice, we don’t know exactly what his condition is right now, but we hope he’s doing well.”

A canine unit was brought in to help search for the suspects, but police were not able to find the suspects.

The investigation continues and police are asking anyone with information about this incident to come forward by calling Prince Albert Police Service at 306953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Snowmobile accidents

With the arrival of the heavy snow comes the use of recreational vehicles.

However, drivers need to remember safety comes first and that reminder is especially important after the weekend.

Parkland Ambulance paramedics were called out to two separate snowmobile incidents where the drivers were injured.

On Saturday around 11:30 a.m., paramedics were called to an accident where a snowmobile had collided with a vehicle on Highway 2, just north of the junction of Hwy 2 and Hwy 263.

The 26-year-old man was injured and taken to Victoria Hospital with unspecified injuries, however officials report that he is in good condition.

Later that day around 5:30 p.m., paramedics were called north of the Prince Albert about one kilometre from the junction of Hwy 120 and Hwy 55.

A 33-year-old man was injured in a snowmobile incident and was taken to Victoria Hospital for further care.

He is now in good condition as well, according to reports.
