Weekend traffic stops lead to drug busts

Drug busts over the weekend kept Prince Albert police busy.

On Saturday at around 1 a.m. members of the Prince Albert Integrated Street Enforcement Team (ISET) initiated a traffic stop, which led to two arrests.

A search of a 44-year-old Prince Albert man’s vehicle revealed he was carrying a large amount of drugs and money.  

Police seized 34 grams of Methamphetamine, 24.9 grams of cocaine, 28.6 grams of crack cocaine, 5.4 grams of Ecstasy, $2,685 in cash and other drug paraphernalia which police said are related to trafficking.

Greg Klyne, from Prince Albert, has been charged with possession of Cocaine, possession of Methamphetamine, possession of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and possession of proceeds obtained by crime.

The other man police took into custody following the traffic stop was released without charges.

Three people face drug possession charges

On Sunday, night Prince Albert Police conducted a traffic stop in the 2900 block of 2nd Avenue West.

During the stop, a search of a vehicle was conducted and officers found 28.9 grams of marijuana and 3.4 grams of cocaine. 

The drug search began after an officer approached the vehicle which he said smelt like marijuana.

One of the passengers was found to have outstanding warrants and was arrested. 

The drug investigation put two males aged 22 and 24, as well as a woman, 19, in custody, where they faced charges of possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine. 

All three appeared in front of a justice of the peace and were released over the weekend. 

Their first court appearance is scheduled for the afternoon of Jan. 29 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.  Names cannot be released until after they appear in court.
