UPDATE: Herb Bassett Home under visitor restrictions

All units in the Herb Bassett Home are under visitor restrictions following respiratory and gastrointestinal illness outbreak.

The restrictions were put in place Monday afternoon for Lakeland Trail and Golden Hill units and extended to Paradise Path Wednesday.

There are resident respiratory cases at Lakeland Trail and Paradise Path, while at Golden Hill there resident respiratory and gastrointestinal cases.

So far, according to the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region (PAPHR), no staff members are showing symptoms.

Those who have been affected have been isolated and signage is in place to inform staff and visitors of the outbreak.

Visitors are being asked to reschedule visits until the outbreak is over.  If they have an urgent or compassionate reason to visit, they are asked to phone the facility.

To help reduce the risk of spreading illnesses, the PAPHR reminds everyone to follow proper hand hygiene and cough etiquette.

The Herb Bassett Home is a 144-bed special care home. It is located at the Regional Health Centre next to the Victoria Hospital.
