Teen wins hockey tickets with helmet design

One Saskatchewan teen has scored his ticket to the World Junior Hockey Championship by designing the helmets for Team Canada.

Morgan Bray will travel from his home in Abernethy, Saskatchewan to Montreal after Christmas. The 14-year-old will sit behind the player benches for the match between Canada and the U.S.

“I was shocked. I was speechless,” said Morgan, speaking of his reaction when he found out his design was chosen.

Morgan read about the contest on a menu at Boston Pizza in White City and decided to go for it.

“I didn’t think I really had a shot at the thing,” he said.

His dad, Tim says he thought his son has talent, but didn’t know how Morgan would stack up against other artists in Canada.

He was excited his son won—and that he’d get to go to the game with him.

“Oh, I love hockey. I’ve been playing since I was three or four years old,” said Tim.

Morgan says it’s been family tradition to watch the World Juniors.

“During Christmas holidays, we’ll do something during the day and we’ll come home and watch the game at night, in the evening,” he said.

The Brays get a paid trip to Montreal and Morgan will receive a replica helmet as a keepsake.
