Firefighters and Police Donate to Give a Little Life

The PA Fire Department and PA Police Association presented their generous donations this week of $2,000 each for a total of $4,000 to the Victoria Hospital Foundation’s Give a Little Life Campaign.

Back in November, the Foundation partnered with the Prince Albert Fire Department and PA Police Association to raise funds for their 9th annual Give a Little Life campaign through a Twitter campaign.

For each “tweet” or “retweet” of the hashtag #HelptheVic14, the Prince Albert Fire Department and PA Police Association each had committed to donating $1 up to a maximum of $2000. Even though the retweets fell short of the total required 2,000 retweets, both organizations still donated their promised maximum of $2,000 each for a total of $4,000 toward pediatrics and nursery units of the Victoria Regional Hospital.

“It was a pleasure to see two of our city’s finest organizations step forward to help our hospital this year the way that the PA Fire Department and PA Police Association did. Even though we didn’t get the total 2,000 tweets/retweets we were aiming for, both groups helped jumpstart our brand new social media pages and then surprised us when they honored their donation offers of $2,000 each. We couldn’t be more grateful,” Sherry Buckler, Executive Director, Victoria Hospital Foundation.

Our hospital takes care of a large area reaching to Fond du Lac, Wollaston and Stony Rapids, and offers support to 52 surrounding communities including 12 First Nations. The Victoria Regional Hospital delivers over 1500 babies a year and over 1000 sick children are admitted to pediatrics annually.

The annual Give a Little Life radio-a-thon took place Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6 am – 6 pm on all three Rawlco radio stations to raise money for the pediatrics and nursery units. The campaign has raised close to $400,000 with donations still coming in.
