More possible victims in sex assault case

The accused in a sexual assault case may be dead, but the police investigation is not over.

72 year old Thomas Donald Mark was found dead over the weekend. Foul play is not suspected.

The former hockey coach had just been arrested in connection to two assaults dating back to the late 1980’s and 90’s. He was scheduled to appear in court next week.

“We’re still asking and urging any victims to come forward even though Mr. Mark was found deceased. We still want to find out what happened and there may be more victims out there,” said Staff Sgt. Barry Thomas.

Thomas said since the initial news release last week, they have had more people come forward with complaints.

“I don’t think the number is important, what is important is that additional victims have come forward and we encourage others to come forward and get the support that’s available out there for them.”

Thomas said the recent media publicity around the charges may trigger memories and trauma in potential other victims.
