Hart’s power play marker hands Kamloops a 5-4 setback
Both goaltenders had shots they would like to have had back and Blazer defenseman Ryan Rehill has a hit he would like to have back. Jayden Hart scored the power play winner for the Raiders with :26 remaining to cap a wild finish giving the Raiders a 5-4 victory in Kamloops. Rehill had to watch from the penatly box after cross checking Raider rookie Sean Montgomery into the boards from behind with 1:49 left in regulation in a tie game.
Hart converted a centreing pass from Jordan Tkatch almost eight minutes after Simon Stransky, who also added two assists and was plus-3 on the night, snapped a shot from the slot through Blazer goalie and former Minto Connor Ingram. The thrilling third period which featured three goals by each team also included a sizzling slap shot into the top corner by Reid Gardiner, his team leading 16th goal of the season. The Humboldt product now has 9 goals and 7 assists in the last 9 games. Gardiner also had an assist and was plus-3.
The Raiders dominated the first period outshooting the Blazers 16-3 and got goals from Dylan Stewart and Gage Quinney while Josh Morrissey was denied a franchise record 61st career goal by a Raider defenseman later in the first period by the cross bar. Matt Revel’s first of two goals was the lone marker of the 2nd period while former Raider Logan McVeigh tied the game :44 into the third period converting his own rebound after a blocked shot.
Rylan Parenteau posted his 9th victory of the season with a 24 save effort while Ingram stopped 30. Both teams were also 1/3 on the power play.
