Cold weather causes accidents and exposure over weekend

Since the heavy snowfall on Friday and the chilling arctic temperatures over Saturday night and Sunday, driving conditions haven’t gotten any better.

Prince Albert Police Service reported responding to nine various accidents in the city over the weekend.

Police are asking the public to drive slow and cautiously with road conditions being slippery.

Parkland Ambulance paramedics report responding to three accidents where persons required medical attention.

On Friday paramedics were called out to Hagen for a collision where a 65-year-old man was injured and was taken to hospital for further care.

On Saturday around 1:30 p.m. paramedics were called to the scene of an accident on 15th Street and Sixth Avenue East.

A 34-year-old man, 24-year-old woman and 70-year-old man received minor injuries, but none that required anyone to be taken to hospital.

And on Sunday a collision in the 1600-block of 15th Street West saw paramedics called to the scene, but no injuries were reported.

There were a few incidents where paramedics were called for cold exposure incidents as well.

A 16-year-old boy and 27-year-old man both were treated for cold exposure in separate incidents over the weekend.

Each were taken to hospital for further care.
