Rider fan hopes to borrow jersey after luggage lost

A Rider fan taking in the 102nd Grey Cup in Vancouver says Rider Nation has helped her out after losing her luggage.

Michelle Donald flew from Saskatoon to Vancouver on a WestJet flight Thursday night, but her luggage – including her Rider jersey – didn’t make the trip. Her luggage arrived Friday afternoon, but not before she received quite a few offers from Rider fans who wanted to lend her a jersey including a signed Kory Sheets jersey.

She also received an offer from the Rider Pep Band willing to lend her a flag they had made into a cape.

“We got into Vancouver and all of a sudden our names were put over the loudspeaker and they said that the bags got lost in Calgary,” Donald said from a interview at the condo she’s renting in downtown Vancouver.

Her flight had been delayed in Calgary due to weather and although her bags have been found, they may take a couple of days to get to her.

In the meantime, she’s put out the call on Twitter to see if anyone has a Rider jersey she can borrow. She has received a couple offers though that she doesn’t plan to take up.

“I’ve been offered a Stampeders jersey which seems a little wrong and a Lions jersey,” she said.

Donald said she was missing her green clothing and really wanted to represent the Riders in Vancouver.

This is Donald’s fifth trip in a row to the Grey Cup and she said she plans to pack her Rider jersey and some extra clothes in a carry-on bag next time.
