Extreme Pita gives back to hearts across Canada

Nov 19, 2014 | 10:59 AM

It’s a hearty lunch that will help the hearts of many Canadians.

Extreme Pita in Prince Albert is offering to donate $1 from the sale of every regular and large pita on Wednesday towards the Heart & Stroke Foundation as part of their annual fundraising campaign.

Owner of the Prince Albert franchise, Neil Patel, says it’s important to partner with such a worthy charity.

“Despite the remarkable progress, the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s work is more urgent than ever, because heart disease and strokes still take one life every seven minutes in Canada,” said Patel. “Even what we raised in the past is not enough so far, so we need to raise more.”

Patel has been running this annual promotion through the Heart & Stroke Foundation for the past three years, raising about $700 at a time.

This year, they have raised $700 so far by selling $2 hearts for the past two weeks.

“People have an opportunity to buy a heart for $2,” said Patel.

Patel added that overall the Extreme Pita organization is hoping to raise $70,000 across Canada this year.

Extreme Pita is offering a $2 discount on pitas as part of this promotion.
