Sask. consumer agency warns of timeshare fraud

Oct 28, 2014 | 1:15 PM

Saskatchewan’s consumer protection agency is issuing a provincewide warning about an alleged real-estate scam.

Lakebridge Realty and Minne Realty are named in a release issued Tuesday by the consumer protection division of the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA).

The companies are accused of taking money upfront for timeshares in Mexico, not delivering anything to the buyers and then not returning phone calls.

The FCAA is urging people to be cautious and deal only with well-established companies. They say people should be wary of upfront fees and high-pressure sales tactics.
