SaskPower CEO resigns following smart meter review
Oct 27, 2014 | 12:48 PM
SaskPower CEO and President Robert Watson has resigned from his position.
The resignation comes the same morning that the Saskatchewan government released a review on SaskPower’s smart meter program. The review found that eight fires where meters melted or burned and damaged homes can be tied back to SaskPower’s approach to the project.
After the province had suspended the smart meter program, Watson issued an apology to SaskPower customers. At that time, he said his company had been assured of the quality of the smart meters, but they clearly did not meet the expectations of its customers.
