PA Minor Football Wrap-Up

In Kinsmen Football League action Wednesday evening, both the Pee Wee and Bantam River Riders finished their seasons with wins in their respective consolation finals.

The Bantam River Riders played the Carlton Crusaders at Max Clunie Field in Prince Albert. The River Riders got even for a 32-21 loss to Carlton earlier in the season, beating the Crusaders by a nearly identical score, 32-22.

The Pee Wee River Riders played in Saskatoon at the SaskTel Sports Centre. The ninth-place River Riders participated in the “Tri-Bowl”, playing half a game each against the 8th place Martensville Mad Dogs and the 7th place Arns Falcons. The River Riders best offensive drive against the Falcons stalled at the 5 yard line, The Falcons won, 12-0. The game against the Mad Dogs needed overtime to decide a winner. Tied 12-12 after regulation time, the River Rider defense stopped the Mad Dog offense in the first half of the overtime “shootout”. On the following River Rider offensive drive, quarterback and punter Kyle Witkowski kicked the ball through the end zone from the 10, scoring a rouge, giving the River riders a 13-12 win.
