Northern mine workers vote for new contract

The ink is still drying on a new agreement affecting roughly 535 mine workers in northern Saskatchewan.
Unionized employees at the Key Lake and McArthur River mines, which are operated by Cameco, have voted in favour of a four-year contract that provides a 12 per cent increase over the term of the agreement. The contract expires Dec. 31, 2017.
The previous contract expired Dec. 31, 2013.
In late August, a nearly nine-month contract dispute came to a head with the union issuing strike notice. Cameco responded by issuing a lockout notice.
