VIDEO: Magician Roger Boucher tricks the crowd

A local performer adds a little magic to the lives of kids in Prince Albert. 

Children and their parents laughed and smiled as they participated in the Roger Boucher Magic Show at the Prince Albert Legion.

The star of the show, magician Roger Boucher has been performing magic for 12 years and perfecting his craft for 14. Boucher said he always enjoyed magic but he was inspired to learn magic back in university.

“I saw a magician who performed magic and I got hooked,” said Boucher. “I asked him how he learned and picked up a book and started practicing. ”

Boucher said he left university after three years, with no degree. He told his mother he was going to be a magician. He said his mother questioned his decision at first but has always enjoyed his performances.

Boucher said he looks up to a lot of magicians, especially, David Copperfield and Derren Brown from the U.K .

“Copperfield, I’ve seen him perform a number of times, he’s phenomenal, definitely like the illusions,” said Boucher. 

Boucher said his favourite part of performance is seeing the crowd enjoy what he’s doing and watching them experience magic, for sometimes the first time. Boucher said he really enjoys live performances because its rare people see a magician first hand.

Boucher said when people see a live magic show there’s more of an emotional response and it’s more exciting for the audience. He said he really enjoys performing magic and connecting with the crowd.

“Giving someone an experience they haven’t really had in the past,” said Boucher.
