Saskatoon Rider fans scammed buying tickets on Kijiji

A Saskatoon couple was concerned, then reassured, then ultimately scammed.

Des Reed and his wife found four tickets to the next Saskatchewan Roughrider home game for sale on Kijiji. Reed says they were worried at first but reassured when told by the seller the tickets would be obtained through Ticketmaster once they paid the $250 being asked.

“They had everything on line. It looked all legit. Sure enough, we sent the money in and no tickets.”

On their website, Kijiji advises people to make such purchases in person in a public place so you see what you are buying before you pay. Moreover, the Roughriders offers a re-sell service so those seeking tickets can go onto the Riders website and safely purchase a ticket someone unable to attend the game.

There is a happy ending in Reed's case. After talking about the scam on a radio show and on Facebook, as Reed put it, “a nice Saskatchewan resident said here, have our tickets. We weren't going anyway.” So the Reeds will be at the next Rider game with those free tickets.
