Saskatoon woman loses deportation battle

Despite the best efforts of her lawyer, 65-year-old Jamila Bibi will be deported to Pakistan Tuesday morning.

Bashar Khan requested a reprieve of that deportation at a federal court hearing Monday afternoon. That reprieve was not granted.

In its decision, the court said it wasn't convinced that Bibi would suffer “irreparable harm” if she were to be removed to Pakistan.

Bibi's lawyer said the Saskatoon cook is accused of adultery there and has received death threats from her ex-husband's family.
