Whether you have been on a date recently or if you are like me and haven’t been on one in 25 years, whether you have kids that are dating or may date one day – you will learn something from reading May I Kiss You by Mike Domitrz.

After receiving a devastating phone call telling him that his sister had been raped, Mike took matters into his own hands and set out to change the world. Armed with a strong passion and short, simple message…. ASK First, Mike has shared his important message world-wide to a wide variety of audiences.

Ask for want you want, talk to your partner and use your words are all part of the strategies to ensure miscommunication is reduced.

Mike talked about some common mistakes we often make as parents, too:

1) we teach kids what not to do vs. teaching them what a healthy relationships looks like

2) we tell them, “if someone touches you – we’ll kill them” instilling fear that if something does happen they may not want to upset us, so  they may not even tell us. Instead we should tell them that we will be there to help them no matter what happens, ever

3) we give them just enough information not to get into trouble but not enough details, this leads to guessing and experimenting

Mike has oodles of resources on his site www.mayIkissyou.com – check it out and/or you can listen to our April 12, 2013 CJOB radio interview here as  a podcast: http://www.cjob.com/Shows/Episodes.aspx?PID=2553

Here’s to building strong relationships,

Steph
