Garage fire extinguished quickly

Emergency crews were called out to a fire this morning.

It happened at about 11 a.m. when a garbage can fire spread to a garage on Dmyterko Bay in the city’s East Hill area.

It didn't take fire crews long to get it under control.

A quick thinking neighbour called the fire department –the incident was wrapped up in about 20 minutes.

The fire started when ash and coals from the night before were put into garbage about an hour before the call went out. The homeowner thought the coals were completely out.
