Still So Much to Do at Waskesiu

Aug 12, 2011 | 8:53 AM

Saturday night Wolf Howl’s begin!
Beginning Saturday, August 13 @ 8:00 p.m. at the Beaver Glen Outdoor
Theatre, this entertaining program runs every Saturday night ending on
September long weekend. You’ll learn about current research on bison and
wolf ecology in the park, radio collaring and tracking these animals. Then
head out on an interpreter-led car caravan to a quiet place in the park and
howl for wolves!

Final performance of the Floating Campfire on Sunday, August 14 @ 2:00
p.m.,

Paddle out in your canoe or kayak, or watch from the breakwater to discover
more about the wildlife and watery places in the national park…. all
while listening to live music and enjoying an afternoon campfire floating
on the water.

Prince Albert National Park presents Coffee House: Summer Sounds, Wild
Realm on August 12 @ 7:00 p.m.

An evening to enjoy great music and food. Feel free to bring along your
own instrument and join in!

Art in the Park meets waste management in Waskesiu
Notice the colourful paintings on the bear-proof garbage cans? These
dressed up containers were painted by visitors to the weekly Art in the
Park program. Come out and create your own art using different mediums
every week. Painting, clay, sketching and more. The great thing is you
don’t have to be an artist to join!

Nothing beats an August hike – great weather, wildlife, and the bugs are
magically disappearing!
One of the local favourites – Narrows Peninsula trail – is a moderate hike
with great viewscapes, beautiful ferns, and mixed forest. Grab the
Heritage Driving Tour brochure for sites of interest along your way to the
trailhead. Once there, it is a short loop but long enough to feel like
you've accomplished something.

Don’t forget to submit your photos to the My Saskatchewan Treasures Contest

The closing date for the photo contest is fast approaching. So head out to

your nearest national park or historic site and capture your most memorable
experiences. Photo contest details and prize descriptions for excellent
weekend getaway packages can be found at
www.SaskatchewanTreasuresContest.com.

For dates and times of all park programs – Pick up the Activity Schedule at
