Standoff ends with three in custody

A standoff at the Kiniston First Nation has ended peacefully.

Tisdale RCMP were first called to an alleged stabbing just after 6 a.m. When they arrived they found a 24-year-old woman, who had been assaulted but not stabbed.

While on scene, a man told police he was going to shoot himself inside the home.

This lead to a standoff with police but RCMP were able to negotiate with the man and resolved the standoff at around 10 a.m..

No actual fire arm was found but police seized three knives.

As well, police took three men and one boy into custody, who was later released.

Sgt. Paul Dawson with the RCMP said no charges have been laid as the investigation is still going on.

“(Prosecutors) will make a decision on whether charges are appropriate for any of those individuals or all of them,” he said.

Two of the men were also taken to hospital following the standoff.
