Casino Moose Jaw short $29K due to faulty machine

Casino Moose Jaw is $29,000 short, after a slot machine incorrectly dispensed credit.

In early April, the casino had a malfunctioning slot machine.

Spokesperson Michelle Hunter says it was dispensing incorrect credit for $50 bills.

“So generally, if you put in a $20 bill you get one credit so it’d be twenty credits and if you put in a $100 bill you’d get a hundred credits,” explained Hunter. “Well this particular machine, if you put in a $50 bills, gave you $216 in credits.”

Hunter says an honest customer noticed the error and reported it.

Police are now involved with investigation

The Saskatchewan Gaming Authority has a pretty good idea who was scamming the slot machine.

Not only were players allegedly taking advantage of a malfunction that turned a $50 bill into over $200 worth of credits but at the same time they were also plugging in their Player's Card.

“From the camera coverage and the footage that we have it’s obvious that they realized this was happening and they spent a considerable amount of time there putting $50 bills in and cashing out knowing that obviously something wasn’t right with the machine,” explained Twyla Meredith, president and CEO of Saskatchewan Gaming.
