Delays expected on busy Prince Albert street

A major road construction project gets underway this week.

Starting Thursday, 15th Street West, between Second Avenue and Fourth Avenue, will be closed. The city is replacing a water main. The entire project is expected to take about a month, weather permitting.

At a June meeting, city council approved $500,000 for the project. The old pipe has been the source of numerous headaches for both the city and local residents, due to repeated breaks.

“It's well beyond its life expectancy. If the lines are not disturbed, they could last for a while, but the thing is I don't think we can count on that happening,” said Alain Trudel, the City of Prince Albert's operations manager.
