Expect delays at Saskatchewan border crossings this long weekend

Line-ups at the border could be extra long this holiday weekend as North Portal Border Crossing is still closed because of the Highway 39 closure south of Estevan.

Wayne Brown, with Canadian Border Services, said people have a few different options.

“Going through the Estevan highway port of entry, which is straight south of Estevan, people can take Highway 6, go down through the Regway port of entry, North Gate on Highway 9.”

Brown adds that additional staff will be added to nearby, smaller crossings.

“With the smaller ports, or the single lanes ports, obviously if there's increased volume, we'll send staff to manage it, but there may be some delays at a single lane port,” said Brown, adding that commercial traffic will be sent to Regway.
