A tasty week at the park

Jul 29, 2011 | 7:55 AM

After four days of food and fun, the Taste of Prince Albert has come to an end.

“The past week has gone really well. We’ve had some fantastic entertainment … of course it’s about sampling food from our vendors and it’s been absolutely fantastic, some great food here,” said Perry Trusty, Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce CEO.

He said he has only heard good things about the variety of food and the entertainment while chatting with people. He added the new vendors have also gone over very well.

Those who took in the event had a variety of favourites — they mentioned everything from nachos, to ribs, to stew.

Layne Daniels chose the nachos from Lone Wolf Catering.

“We were by this one person and they looked really good,” she said.

“I probably enjoyed Chinese food from Asian Lee’s the best,” said Monty Bonin, the Taste of Prince Albert veteran who comes out every year.

Chris Macaulay didn’t have anything specific in mind when he showed up for lunch, he said he just wanted a different option.

“I just came to see what they had to offer and found some stuff that I really liked and it was good,” he said.

“I mean I’ve been to all (these restaurants) before anyway, but just stuck with some regulars that I knew that I would like.”

He went for the spiral fries and dry ribs.

Doug Hewitt chose ribs and stew for his meal. His reason for dropping by the event in Kinsmen Park – “I am hungry.”

“These are both restaurants I haven’t tried before,” he said, about where his meal came from.

Many of the people in attendance also said how much they loved the entertainment.

Trusty said he made his rounds during the week too.

“I’ve made it to every booth this week,” he said.

“They’ve all been very good — (there are) a couple of new things I’ve tried.”

With the event wrapping up, Trusty said they are already looking towards next year and how they can make it even better.
