No investigation of Regina doctor by College of Physicians and Surgeons yet

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan is taking a wait-and-see approach on a massive privacy breach.

Regina's Dr. Teik Im Ooi was accused by Saskatchewan's privacy commissioner Gary Dickson of failing to protect a patients' privacy after 25 boxes of private records turned up in a recycling bin earlier this year.

Bryan Salte is the associate registrar and legal counsel with the college. He insists privacy is a huge concern for the college and for doctors.

“So we have conducted investigations in the past in which we have concluded that we would not be able to demonstrate unprofessional conduct.”
