Naicam man facing kidnapping, assault charges

A Naicam man is facing charges of kidnapping, sexual assault and assault after an alleged incident in Humboldt.

Lars Allen Olson, 27, is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Saskatoon on Friday morning.

RCMP say that on Thursday at about 5:10 p.m., they received a call from an employee working at a retail store on Main Street in Humboldt.

The employee said a man, allegedly Olson, was trying to force a woman from the store. The woman, who is from Humboldt, was trying to free herself from his grasp.

RCMP Cpl. Rob King says police could hear the woman as the man was trying to drag her out of the store.

“Over the phone line you could hear the woman yelling and screaming and trying to fight off this male person.”

When police arrived on scene, the Olson refused to release the woman and police intervened. He was pepper sprayed and taken into custody.

The woman suffered minor injuries. Police say Olson was not known to the victim.
