Warman woman accused of stabbing baby, released on bail

The 22-year-old Warman woman charged with attempting to murder a five-month-old baby boy has been released on bail.

The bail hearing for Simone Mary Janine Lawrence took place Thursday afternoon in Saskatoon.

Lawrence’s lawyer, Wanda Towstego, asked that her client be released to live out of province with a close friend.

Justice Bria Huculak explained to the court that, although the charges are serious, they aren't enough of a reason to hold somebody in custody.

Lawrence was released on several conditions.

They include no contact with children under 12 years of age, no contact with the victim or his family and to attend all mental health appointments.

Lawrence has been described as suffering from post partum depression.

Lawrence was 21-years-old on May 11, 2011, the time the alleged incident is said to have occurred.
