Heat triggers agriculture worries for Saskatchewan farmers

Jul 21, 2011 | 3:41 PM

Some Saskatchewan farmers are concered that their crops may fall victim to heat stress admist the province's recent high temperatures.

Bryan Sullivan, a farmer in the Kindersley area, said that the hot weather is impacting the growth of crops like canola.

“Some of the earlier planted canola has lost its flower because of it – that will definitely affect the amount of yield,” said Sullivan.

But Grant McLean, an agriculture specialist with the Saskatchewan government, said the heat stress isn't a major issue.
