RCMP are investigating an incident involving the use of a firearm.

Early Sunday morning, RCMP received a complaint of a careless use of a firearm that resulted in non-life threatening injuries to a 22-year-old woman visiting from Denmark.

During their initial investigation, police determined that five adults were camping at acreage near Whitkow, about 40 kilometres northwest of the Battlefords. Around 3 a.m., one of the campers thought an animal was approaching their site and, wanting to scare it off, the man discharged his firearm hitting one of the other campers.

Members of the camping party treated the victim at the site and then took her to hospital in North Battleford. She was treated for wounds on her upper body and released.
